SEO or Google AdWords? Which offers better results?
Lately more businesses are understanding the importance of online marketing, especially through search engines. People tend to end up on your website more through the use of search engines than actually going directly to your website. But this seems to have sparked a debate on which service works best – SEO or Google AdWords?
SEO or Google AdWords?
So, in order for your brand to have a strong online presence, you have a choice to make – do I use SEO or Google AdWords?
Let’s start with SEO. What exactly is SEO? SEO, also known as Search Engine Optimization, is a form of naturally ranking high in organic search results. As a SEO company, we can tell you that this generally comprises of a view things, such as: market and keyword research to determine which words or phrases you want to rank for, on-page optimization which includes these words or phrases, well written content, social media marketing and general advertising, and finally, monitoring your results.
Google AdWords, also known as PPC (Pay- Per-Click ads), are purchased ads on Google which link directly to your website.
So, while both of these can get you to the front page of search results, they each still have their own benefits and costs.
What is the difference between SEO services and a PPC campaign?
Lately, most research done on the topic will show that organic links are clicked on much more than paid links. Zero Limit Web have done an amazing study to prove this, see their results by clicking here! The reason for this? People simply realize the difference between paid results and organic results. With the latter, normally being the more trusted or respected source. Think about the last time you searched for something online, did you focus on the paid ads listed on top? Or the first few organic results right below?
So, given the choice of ranking organically or by having PPC ads – the choice seems to lean more towards organic. But unfortunately, it’s not that easy to rank on the first page of Google. Especially not in a short amount of time. Not even the best SEO company out there can deliver those kinds of results.
With PPC on the other hand, you can be on the first page within a number of days for a few targeted keywords or phrases. Although, it should be noted that not all keywords or phrases cost the same amount. This means that your PPC campaign can get very expensive, very quickly. So, this seems like an unlikely option, unless you have a proper marketing budget. Which unfortunately, not everyone has.
But don’t get me wrong, PPC is still very useful. Especially if you are starting a new business and need to draw in some clients to get your brand out there. This will offer quick results that SEO wouldn’t have been able to do.
So, should you use SEO or Google AdWords?
So, at the end of the day it all depends on what you are trying to achieve through your online marketing campaign. If you want quick, but possibly expensive results, then PPC is for you. But if you want long-term results for your online marketing, then the choice is clear – SEO services are the way to go.
SEO offers long term results that will keep your online marketing campaign going. Sure, it might not offer you the best results in the shortest amount of time, but greatness takes time. Plus, its more affordable in the long run. And wouldn’t you rather have long lasting results that will cost you less than quick results that’s a constant expense?
I think the choice is clear.
